AW17'S Top 5 Nail Art Trends You Can Try Now

From Temperley’s pinky nudes to Mulberry’s metallics, it may come as no surprise but nails were big news on the Autumn Winter 2017 catwalks. In recent years, nail art has been rising in popularity to the point that there is now much more innovation in this field, and therefore more focus on inventive nail styles by the top fashion designers.

Nail art is also the perfect way for you to try out the future fashion trends ahead of the coming season! Here we offer some of the top nail trends spotted on the AW17 runway which you can try out now and be the envy of your friends.

Metallics – metallics are back! From glittering gold to high shine chrome, metallics in these two distinct hues are going to be huge in the coming months. For warmer skin tones gold is wonderfully flattering, whilst silver and chrome will be perfect for cooler toned skin. There is a metallic choice for everyone.

Florals – if the catwalks are anything to go by recently then florals are big news too for Autumn Winter 2017. If you want to attempt the look yourself, there is a floral for you regardless of your level of skill. For beginners, try large abstract petal patterns and for those of you with more expertise then try vintage ditsy patterns.

Colour Blocking – blocking primary colours across the whole nail is a favourite trend for next season. In some cases, negative space is left to let the natural colour of the nail beneath peak through, which then contrasts with the brightly coloured polishes.

Pinky Neutral – perhaps the most versatile trend is the pinky neutral. An incredibly minimalist look, this is one for the more conservative look or one that can take you from work to a night out with seamless chic sophistication.

French Manicure – a style that has not been in vogue since the early 00’s, the French manicure returns… but with a twist. Swapping out gloss for glitter, and neutral shades for bright colours, the principal of the French manicure remains the same but the medium has had a bold 2017 update!

To try out these looks, long lasting polishes such as OPI or Essie are a great place to start, and the legendary Seche Vite topcoat will do the hard work of keeping your creations – such as the floral or French manicure – in place for over a week.

Otherwise, gel polishes tend to last much longer and are becoming more affordable; you can even get a monthly box of on-trend gel polishes delivered to your door with a subscription service. This is the perfect way to get hold of the right shades try out new nail art styles.

There are such fun and varied trends coming to 2017’s Autumn Winter season, and there’s truly something for everyone. From intricate floral patterns, to bright block colours and pared down nudes, there’s so much to look forward to in the world of nail art!
